- This app is SO AWESOME! The premise of the app is to save food It’s totally free; it helps you locate stores that throw their leftover food away at the end of the day. TooGoodToGo helps you locate the stores with huge bags of food that are destined for the trash. You can then buy them for anywhere from 2-10 dollars ish!
- My experience: when I was in Italy and on a major budget, I used this app one night and got a bag of food from the grocery store; they gave us quinoa, chicken, yogurt, fresh blackberries, and a few other random snacks!

Omio
- Omio is a great app that helps you find and book tickets for trains, buses, ferries, and flights. It’s very simple to use and makes it really easy to find different routes and compare prices.
RomeToRio
- This app is pretty similar to Omio; it compares flights, trains, buses, and even rideshares and taxis.
Bolt
- Bolt is basically Europe’s version of Uber but often much cheaper than Uber!
Uber
- A classic.
TaxiApp
- This is also a good one. It’s similar to Bolt and Uber but the taxi version.
FlixBus
- FlixBus is so great! It’s definitely not going to be your luxury bus experience, however, it’s a very cheap option to get from one place to another. Instead of paying a few hundred dollars for a plant ticket or even hundreds for a long train ride, you can book a bus ride!
- My experience: when I was backpacking through Europe, my sister and I were trying to get from Belgium to the French Riviera at the bottom of France. All the train tickets were around $250, but we got an overnight FlixBus for $42!
TrainLine
- This is a great app to find and book train tickets all across Europe. This was probably my #1 used app when I was in Europe.
Price Line
- This can help you find hotels, cruises, cars, trains, etc.! All with the convenience of the same app!
