Welcome, dear traveler, to the complete guide to Poznań from a local perspective! I am not a local to Poznań… but I wish I was! After beepbopping around Poland for two weeks, I ended up in Poznań with my dear friend Iza… who IS a local! She gave me a tour of one of my now-favorite cites ever! Poznań is truly a hidden gem in Poland and in Europe! It has the coolest buildings, best food, and awesome night life. This is a spot I am planning on visiting again and again. This list was compiled my Iza (with a few additions by me)! Enjoy this complete guide to Poznań of her favorite bars, cafes, restaurants, and more!

Best Things To Do In Poznań

  • Explore the city.
    • To start off your complete guide to Poznań, take some time to beepbop around the city! There is simply so much to see! Wander the streets, find fun little shops, admire the architectures, and sample Polish sweets (especially in the city center)!
  • Check out the National Museum.
  • Climb to the top of the Royal Castle!
    • You can pay to take the stairs or elevator for a gorgeous view of the city.
  • Visit the Croissant Museum!
    • This is something you do not want to miss! These traditional pastries are baked for Independence Day, and they’re a huge part of Polish culture. Head to this museum for an incredible time including preparation of croissants, a tour, history, tastings, and more! For tickets and info, click below!
  • Head to Muzeum Pyry.
    • The Polish love their potatoes, and so of course they have a museum dedicated to them! This is an epic museum where you can learn about potatoes and also have different hands-on experiences, like digging up potatoes and learning how to cook them! It’s one of the most highly rated tourist experiences. For more info, tickets, and times, click below.
  • Try local food.
    • One thing I love is pierogi. One thing I hate are pickles. Fortunately, no matter what floats your boat, Poznań has every food there is to offer. Scroll down for some restaurant recommends! But be sure to try local pickles, pierogi, and croissants!

  • Termy Maltańskie
    • Are you a big fan of the water? Well, look no further than Termy Maltańskie – a water sports and recreational complex in Poznań, located right on the bank of the Malta Lake, in the middle of Poznań! There are water slides, spa treatments, and so much more! Click below for info and tickets!
  • Walk through Cytadela Park.
    • Don’t miss this incredible park in Poznań! Go explore, sit, daydream, and more!
  • Get lost in the Jeżyce (and other) Districts
    • Go outside of the city centers! Neighborhoods of Jeżyce, Łazaż, Ostrów Tumski are definitely worth your time!!
    • Spend some time exploring! For a list of some of the coolest spots in the Jeżyce area, click below!
  • Read Jeżycjada!
    • Are you a big reader? Get a deep dive into Poznan by reading Jeżycjada, a book series based in Poznan!
  • Look for murals around the city.
  • Explore Plac Bernardynski Church!
  • Walk through Frederic Chopin Park, where you’ll see beautiful flowers, greenery, and some incredible buildings in the surrounding area!
  • Be sure to check out the courtyard inside the Bazylika Kolegiacka Matki Bozej.

A few other thoughts from Iza: Whenever temperature allows it, I love grabbing my hammock or blanket and chilling in one of the parks. As far as I know, you can freely hang your hammock on any tree in any of the parks. There are multiple parks in Poznań, my favourites are: Park Cytadela (the biggest one; you can get lost while wandering around which is pretty great!), Park Tysiąclecia (my recent discovery!), and Park przed Fontanną (iconic spot in the city, a lot of people come and rest there, as its right in the city center).

  • Warzywniak
    • Vegan place with the best falafel in town. Wonderful and original drinks.

  • Pansa Piena
    • A little spot not everybody knows about. Run by Angelo from Italy and has pizza made with fresh and good quality ingredients for very attractive prices. You can sit outside and enjoy a view square surrounded by flower stands.
  • Zdolni
    • Polish food, but with a twist.
  • Antrejka
    • A small place, filled with locals. Everyday there are 5 options, you can choose from. A type of a milk bar- iconic type of a restaurant in Poland. It’s definitely worth visiting for its wonderful taste. generous portions and attractive prices. There always is a vegetarian option. Unfortunately closed on the weekends.
  • Ciasno
    • Good quality sourdough pizza. intriguing and nonobvious flavour combinations.

  • Pyra Bar
    • Inexpensive place, a chain which focuses on potatoes. Again, we are very fond of them. Order pyry z gzikiem, traditional dish of the region, and zakwas chlebowy to drink- this one will surprise you!

    • Good natural wines and tapas style plates you can share with your friends.

    • A place with very interesting flavour combinations, that also has their own pickled production that is often used in the dishes.
  • Taco Jesus
    • Mexican place run by Jesus from Mexico. Interior and garden outside have great design, food is fresh and authentic, and served quickly.

Best Bars in Poznań

  • Pies Andaluzyjski
    • My personal favourite, I love the style and atmosphere of this place. Colorful carpets and lights all around you. Very chill, and inexpensive.
  • Dram Bar
    • One of the fanciest places in town, with a really good selection of drinks. Very good quality. Every Wednesday there is a live jam session which is always a wonderful experience!
  • Kuźnia
    • Solid spot with karaoke!
  • Tygryz
    • Wine and tapas style plates you can share with friends!
  • Mitte
    • Wine, drinks, craft bread, baked goods, good food!
  • Cybermachina
    • Board and other games!
  • KontenerART
    • Mostly active during summer time. A place near Warta River with many food and drink trucks and a cozy hangout space with lounger chairs and lights. Every Wednesday people gather there for organized salsa dancing!
