Zadar is one of the coolest spots ever. It’s so often missed when traveling through Croatia, which is a blessing and a curse for you! While it’s sad that so many skip this small town for the more popular Split or Dubrovnik, it ends up being much less touristy than the typical Croatian “hotspots.” It’s one of the most beautiful spots on the coast, and you are going to love it so much. There’s a ton of great spots to stay, but I’m going to lay the best ones out for you to simplify your planning! The most important things to consider when choosing a hostel are price, location, safety, cleanliness, and the social aspect. I hope this list helps you find a great place to stay; here are the best hostels in Zadar, Croatia!

Downtown Boutique Hostel
This is going to be the best spot for you to stay in the city! Not only is it right in the heart of the Old Town of Zadar, but the price is SO cheap. It’s one of the best deals you can get! Reviews for this hostel are SO epic. It’s clean, safe, and has an awesome staff! If you have a chance to stay here, make sure to do so!
Boutique Hostel Forum
This is also right in the center of Zadar, which will save you the headache of having to try to get to downtown. It also has great reviews from most travelers about how perfect the location is and how clean the hostel is overall. However, it is next to a club, so it can be a bit loud at night (however, that may be your vibe, so take it or leave it). It’s not the most social hostel, and the rooms are pretty small. However, if you’re balling on a budget, the small rooms are worth it for the super cheap cost.

Lazy Monkey Hostel and Apartments
This is one of the greatest hostels you’ll find in the area. While it has cons (for example, its 2.5km from the city center), its beautiful, right next to the beach and a bus stop (so easy transportation), has a patio, garden, pool table, seating everywhere, a huge kitchen, and more! It’s a very social spot, so it’ll be easy to make friends! It’s also clean with a great staff. It’s a little more expensive than some of the other places (around $10 more), however, it’s worth it for such a great visit!
The Hostel
Besides the fact that the name is BORING (come on… where’s the creativity???), it’s in a perfect spot if you’re wanting to explore the city (just a 10-15 minute walk from the city center)! It’s also only a 10 minute walk from the beach. It’s clean and safe and cozy. You’re also close to the station. You probably won’t make a ton of friends here, however, as it doesn’t have a ton of places to hang out and isn’t every social.
